This is a HUGE SEX ADDICTION whether you know it or not! I am trying to help others to take steps to reduce this problem but you need to help yourself as well! Ask yourself how many times are you really looking at pornography in a day, week and month.  If you are depressed, lonely, angry or don't care then their is a reason for it! I have seen SO many families broken down by this only ending up in broken relationships, divorce, and finger pointing through anger.  Pornography is NOT normal! Your life will only get worse. Pornography is tearing apart the very fabric of our society. Yet certain Christians and Religions are often ignorant of its impact and apathetic about the need to control this menace.

Pornography is an $8 billion-a-year business with close ties to organized crime. The wages of sin are enormous when pornography is involved and we need to turn to Prayer.  Purveyors of pornography reap enormous profits through sales in so-called adult bookstores and through the viewing of films and live acts at theaters.

Pornography encompasses books, magazines, videos, and devices and has moved from the periphery of society into the mainstream through video cassettes, soft-porn magazines, and cable television.

The extent of pornography is shocking and can be vicious.   Experts estimate that as many as one in three girls and one in seven boys will be sexually molested before age eighteen. In the United States, pornography is the third largest money-maker for organized crime - after drugs and gambling - an $8 - 10 billion per year enterprise. 

In response to the FBI's questions on the subject, 81 percent of serial killers surveyed said that hard-core pornography was their highest sexual interest. According to the report from Dr. William Marshall, Report on the use of Pornography by Sexual Offenders, 57percent of serial rapists studied admitted to imitating scenes found in pornography. The Effects of Pornography 

Many people think that pornography is really just a victimless crime and that it really has no detrimental effects. Everywhere you turn, and most prevalently on television, sex is a tool used to entertain, advertise, and get attention. Society is being bombarded with sex so much that we are becoming apathetic to its dangers that saturate our society today.

Some of the common messages sent by our sexualized culture.

  • Sex with anyone, under any circumstances, any way it is desired, is beneficial and does not have negative consequences.
  • Women have one value - to meet the sexual demands of men.
  • Marriage and children are obstacles to sexual fulfillment.
  • Everyone is involved in promiscuous sexual activity, infidelity and premarital sex.

Pornography and Addiction
Not only is the pornography industry, as well as the mainstream media, filling consumers' heads with these false beliefs and attitudes, but studies have found that pornography can be highly addictive. In fact, Dr. Victor Cline, an expert on sexual addiction, found that there is a four-step progression among many who consume pornography.

  1. Addiction: Pornography provides a powerful sexual stimulant or aphrodisiac effect, followed by sexual release, most often through masturbation.
  2. Escalation: Over time addicts require more explicit and deviant material to meet their sexual "needs."
  3. Desensitization: What was first perceived as gross, shocking and disturbing, in time becomes common and acceptable.
  4. Acting out sexually: There is an increasing tendency to act out behaviors viewed in pornography.

The National Council on Sexual Addiction Compulsivity estimates that 6%-8% of Americans are sexual addicts.

Porn used to be relegated to a video hidden in the bottom drawer, or a magazine under the mattress. Today, it's part of everyday life. The pervasiveness of porn has made sexiness — from subtle to raunchy — a much-sought-after attribute online, at school and even at work. It now serves as a kind of sensory wallpaper, something that many people don't even notice anymore.It has steadily elbowed its way into the limelight, with an impact that can be measured not just by the Internet-fed ubiquity of pornography itself but by the way aspects of the porn sensibility now inform movies, music videos, fashion, magazines, and celebrity culture.

Problems with Relationships and Finances
Pornography can destroy trust and openness, essential qualities in any relationship or marriage. Because it is primarily viewed in secret, pornography use often leads to deception and lying. It sows distrust and feelings of inadequacy and betrayal.  They do not understand why their marriage partner no longer finds them desirable. How does a wife feel when her husband is more interested in other women?  There is no way it is healthy for a marriage..

Loss of productivity in the home and at the office suffer. Penalties may include getting fired, being passed over for a promotion, reprimands, sexual harassment lawsuits, etc.
